Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is the clear success of the month, with critics and at the box office. It gave Nivin Pauly his biggest ever opening at around ₹4.7 to ₹4.9 crore on day one, and crossed ₹100 crore worldwide in six days. Only L2: Empuraan and Drishyam 3 have done that faster in Malayalam.
Critics are warm rather than blown away. Nobody claims it reinvents the romantic comedy. The point everyone makes is how much freshness Girish A. D. finds inside a completely familiar shape.
Where to watch
In cinemas and doing very well, so it is unlikely to reach OTT until the theatre run ends. We will update this page when a date is confirmed.

3.5/5A very ordinary plot, filled with unusually well-observed detail.
Ashley moves to a new town with her family and finds herself drawn to Justin, an older neighbour whose easy company slowly starts to matter more than she expected. You have seen this story many times.
What lifts it is the detail. The charm comes from the characters and small everyday moments rather than from plot twists. That has always been Girish A. D.’s strength, and it is the thing reviews single out.
Direction
3.5/5Girish A. D. doing exactly what he is good at, now with a bigger star.
Keeping the tone steady is the real achievement here. The film is funny throughout without ever straining for it, and the comedy comes out of the characters rather than being added on top.
The one repeated criticism is the shape. A superb first half is followed by a second half that drags in places. Several reviews say this in almost the same words.
Acting
4/5Nivin Pauly back doing what he does best, with Mamitha Baiju matching him.
This is the Nivin Pauly people have missed. Relaxed, funny and easy to like. There is a reason this is his biggest opening ever, and the performance earns it.
Mamitha Baiju is having a big month across two languages, and she holds the film as much as he does. The pairing is why such familiar material still works.
Camera & Visuals
3.5/5Warm and simple, rooted in a very specific small-town Kerala.
The look is natural and lived-in, which is exactly right for a film whose humour depends on ordinary situations feeling ordinary.
Nothing here is reaching for spectacle, and the film is better for it. The camera stays close to the people.
Audience Reaction & Box Office
4/5Word of mouth has been excellent, and the numbers prove it.
The film held its audience through the week instead of dropping off, which is the clearest sign that people are recommending it. ₹100 crore worldwide in six days puts it in rare company for Malayalam cinema.
It is on course for roughly ₹120 to ₹125 crore worldwide in its first week. For a mid-budget romantic comedy with no action and no spectacle, that is a genuinely big result.
