Ayogya 2 split the critics neatly. The New Indian Express gave it 3.5 out of 5, The Times of India gave it 2.5, and the gap is entirely about what each expected. Both agree on what the film is: a safe follow-up, competently made.
The returning cast and the small-town politics are the draw. Whether that is enough depends on how much you liked the 2018 original, because this film does not try to go anywhere new.

2.5/5A decent political comedy that never surprises you.
Siddegowda wins his councillor election and sets his sights on becoming president, with 16 of 22 councillors behind him. When his rival starts poaching them, he kidnaps his own group — and they betray him at the vote anyway.
It is a good engine for comedy and the film runs it competently. The Times of India’s complaint is fair though: it follows a formula, and it does less with the idea than it could have.
Direction
3/5S. Mahesh Kumar stays firmly inside the world he already built.
The film sits comfortably in the style of the first one, which is both the compliment and the criticism. Anyone returning will feel at home immediately.
At 2 hours 32 minutes it is longer than the material needs. The comedy set-pieces work. The scenes joining them together are where you feel the length.
Acting
3.5/5The returning cast is the reason this works at all.
Sathish Ninasam is comfortable in a role he has played before, and the film leans on that comfort rather than asking anything new of him.
P. Ravishankar and Sadhu Kokila handle the comedy, and Rachita Ram returns from the original. The cast’s easy chemistry carries stretches the script does not.
Camera & Visuals
3/5Solid, ordinary craft. The least argued-about part of the film.
The New Indian Express specifically credited the film for keeping the same look and feel as the first one, which is the strongest praise the visuals got.
It is shot the way mainstream comedies are shot. Nothing stands out, and nothing goes wrong.
Audience Reaction
3/5Fans of the original were happy. Newcomers had less reason to care.
The film has played to the audience it already had, and reaction has been warm among people who liked the 2018 film and wanted more of the same.
It has not won over many outside that group. That fits the critical split: the kinder review judged it as a sequel, the harsher one judged it as a film on its own.
